Challenge
An off-grid house runs on its own infrastructure: grid connection, solar panels, batteries, a generator, boilers, pumps, tanks, ventilation and security. The systems affect each other, and the interface has to show those links rather than a set of unrelated widgets.
The home screen answers within five seconds: is everything fine with the house, how autonomous is it right now, is there a problem, is action needed, and what has NEXORA already done on its own.
Key decisions
- House → System → Room → Device
Level-based navigation instead of a panel of toggles: from the overall status you can jump straight to the system with the problem.
- Autonomy in days
Energy and water reserves are shown as a forecast of how long they will last, not just as charge percentages.
- An outage is a scenario
Every event is explained in one pattern: problem → cause → impact → what was done automatically → what is recommended.
- Three levels of automation
Notify only, ask before acting, or act independently – critical actions always require confirmation.
- Color is not the only signal
The ten system states differ in shape, icon and text, not just color.
